Warning to Lefkara residents

LEFKARA municipality yesterday instructed owners of plots of land, fields and uninhabited houses within its municipal boundaries to clean up their properties, removing all unwanted materials, weeds and any other kind of rubbish by May 18.

Personal warnings will not be sent out, the municipality said.

After May 18, Lefkara’s clean up crew will undertake to clear all the plots of land, fields or abandoned houses. The municipality will then bill the owner of the said property at a price to be determined by it and for no less than £30.

Owners of houses on the verge of collapse are also asked to take the necessary steps to support the buildings. Failure to do so will result in the municipality undertaking to fix or demolish the dangerous buildings, claiming the expenses from the owners.
